Hutan kita setiap harinya ditebangi untuk membuat kertas. Untuk mengurangi penebangan ini, kita bisa memakai kertas daur ulang…
Gaya hidup ramah lingkungan dikenal pula dengan semboyan 3R : Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Artinya mengurangi tingkat kebutuhan akan sampah, menggunakan kembali sampah-sampah yang telah ada dan mendaur ulang sampah-sampah yang telah terpakai. Salah satu sampah yang dapat didaur ulang adalah kertas. Kertas daur ulang ini memiliki tekstur yang indah. Dari kertas daur ulang kita dapat membuat beraneka ragam kerajinan tangan.

Why recycling paper?
well as you know, forests are getting scarce mostly because people use it for paper, furniture, etc. so instead of always using new paper, which means cutting a new tree, it’s better to use recycled paper for some purposes…
For every ton of paper that is recycled, 17 trees live. You can recycle most paper, including white office paper, newspaper and mixed-color paper, through a local curbside recycling program.
Recycled paper is sold on stores, but it will be even better if we make it too, right.

Former US vice president Al Gore just walked into the room to a standing ovation. I am in one of the big halls in the Bali International Convention Centre in Indonesia and Gore has arrived to give delegates a final pep talk before negotiations conclude tomorrow.
He cuts an impressive silhouette as he makes his way to the front of the room surrounded by his bodyguards who are as solidly built as he is.
At a glance, this event – which is not part of the negotiations as Gore is not a delegate – is more generously attended than the one two nights ago which featured UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on the panel.
In front of me, two Americans are here to represent the US “youth”; they tell their neighbour that George W Bush is not their president. Gore won the election. Never mind that was two elections ago, Gore (now a Nobel prize winner), clearly, is something of an ethical moral leader for the pair.
WASHINGTON: A small group of US experts stubbornly insist that, contrary to what the vast majority of their colleagues believe, humans may not be responsible for the warming of the planet Earth.
These experts believe that global warming is a natural phenomenon, and they point to reams of data they say supports their assertions.
These conclusions are in sharp contradiction to those of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which reached its conclusions using largely similar data.
The UN body of about 3,000 experts, including several renown US scientists, jointly won the award with former US vice president Al Gore for their work to raise awareness about the disastrous consequences of global warming.
In mid-November the IPCC adopted a landmark report stating that the evidence of a human role in the warming of the planet was now “unequivocal”.
Retreating glaciers and loss of snow in Alpine regions, thinning Arctic summer sea ice and thawing permafrost shows that climate change is already on the march, the report said.

BEIJING: China is glad a climate change roadmap agreed last week in Bali has drawn the US to the negotiating table, but the world’s only superpower must do more to tackle global warming, a top official said yesterday.
Yu Qingtai, China’s climate change ambassador, said Beijing was satisfied with the hard-won plan, finally agreed after two weeks of talks overran by a day into a dramatic final session marked by tears, booing and a series of standing ovations.
Nearly 200 nations agreed to launch negotiations on a new pact to fight global warming after a last-minute reversal by the US allowed a breakthrough.
The deal is important because it draws in countries that currently do not have a binding international obligation to cut greenhouse gas emissions, Yu said, but they could still do more to help others.
“The US is an important contributor of emissions both in total and on a per-capita basis. It has both advanced technology and ample funds,” he told a briefing. “So on the issue of tackling climate change, America should display a more positive, more constructive role.”

WASHINGTON: An angry California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has vowed to sue the Bush administration, saying that the government showed it did not take climate change seriously by blocking state efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions.
The pledge came a day after the federal government blocked efforts by California and 16 other states to limit emissions from cars and trucks as a means of combating global warming.
“I am extremely disappointed by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to block the will of millions of people who want us to take tough action against global warming,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement.
Calling the action “legally indefensible”, Schwarzenegger said California would file suit “within the next three weeks” to overturn the EPA’s ruling.
In broadcast remarks, he said the EPA had earnerd the name “environmental destruction agency”.

Tadi pagi saya dengar i-radio (mentari pagi-pagi–>acara radio favorit gw :p), penyiarnya, putri suhendro dan rafiq (penyiar favorit gw :p), membacakan tempat2 yang banyak kumannya, tempat-tempat yang dibacakan cukup mengagetkan, berikut ini tempat2nya:
1. Tempat cuci piring
Jangan kira tempat yang selalu dialiri air dan kena sabun lalu jadi bebas kuman, tunggu dulu, tempat cuci piring karena perawatan yang ceroboh justru bisa menjadi sarang kuman penyakit. Ternyata bisa sekitar 500.000 bakteri per inci persegi kuman hidup di bak cuci piring, belum termasuk yang ada di sabut pencuci atau keran air.
Maka itu, bersihkan secara berkala tempat cuci piring dengan produk pembersih atau dengan campuran baking soda dan air yang disikatkan pada permukaan bak cuci. Jangan lupa selalu bersihkan alat dapur setiap kali selesai digunakan. Dan juga gantilah sponge untuk mencuci piring setiap 2 minggu, sponge kan murah.. jangan pelit2 lah demi kesehatan

Artikel ini benar2 menyadarkan saya bahwa bumi kita memang sudah benar2 berteriak karena terus menerus dieksploitasi oleh manusia.
Aku hidup di tahun 2070. Aku berumur 50 tahun, tetapi kelihatan seperti sudah 85 tahun. Aku mengalami banyak masalah kesehatan, terutama masalah ginjal karena aku minum sangat sedikit air putih.
Aku pikir aku tidak akan hidup lama lagi. Sekarang aku adalah orang yang paling tua di lingkunganku. Aku teringat di saat aku berumur 5 tahun, semua sangat berbeda. Masih banyak pohon di hutan dan tanaman hijau di sekitar, setiap rumah punya halaman dan taman yang indah, dan aku sangat suka bermain air dan mandi sepuasnya. Sekarang, kami harus membersihkan diri hanya dengan handuk sekali pakai yang dibasahi dengan minyak mineral.
